4x^3 -2x^2 -12x 4x^3 -2x^2 -12x x is common in all. Factor it out first. x(4x^2 -2x - 12) Next to simplify you can factor out 2 as well. 2x(2x^2 -x - 6) now factor the thing inseide the brackers. Find 2 terms to whom when we multiply we get -12 and when we add we get -1.
-4 and +3.
2x(2x^2 -x - 6) 2x(2x^2 -4x + 3x - 6) Now make pairs. 2x[2x(x-2) +3(x-2)] Finally: 2x[(2x+3)(x-2)] Rewrite them as: 2x(2x+3)(x-2) Completely factored^
So what do you think? @vortish

Thank you! I'm glad that you are understanding things better. =D
