A foal from a red colored mother and a white colored father, has a light red coat. What are the likely genetics behind the foal’s coloration. What makes you think this?

It sounds to me like a description of "incomplete dominance." Here, we have a RED mother, and a WHITE father. The child is LIGHT RED. So, the child is not completely red, and not completely white. "Incomplete dominance" is where the there are two different phenotypes, and neither one is dominant over the other. In this case, the two different PHENOTYPES are RED and WHITE. And since neither one is more dominant than the other, they both appear, blended together, to form LIGHT RED.
