What disease does insulin help prevent?

OpenStudy (frostbite):

First of all. I like to point of the fact that humans produce insulin our self, if you are not having this disease you talk about (we get back to that later) Insulin is a protein (some like to call it a peptide becuase it is a very small protein and also functions as a signaling compound) Insulin functions by incressing the absorption of sugar / glucose and build repositories of such fat, sugar, and protein. The concentration of insulin is regulated by the amount of glucose in the blood. You know any disease that decreese the uptake of glucose?

diabetes

insulin is secreted from the beta cells in the pancreas inorder to lower blood glucose levels.. :)
