Try to get both fraction denominator to be same. Let me show you an example. \[\dfrac{1}{2} + \dfrac{1}{4}\]\[\dfrac{2\cdot1}{2\cdot2} + \dfrac{1}{4} \Rightarrow \dfrac{2}{4} + \dfrac{1}{4} = \boxed{\dfrac{3}{4}}\] Is this clear?
