Both of these explanations are true but not really saying what the difference is.

Celsius is based on 0º being the freezing point of water and 100º being the boiling point of water. Each degree is 1/100th the difference in temperature between freezing and boiling water.

Kelvin is based on 0 being absolute zero, the coldest possible temperature where there would be no energy present whatsoever. Absolute zero is 273.15 degrees colder than the freezing point of water, so 0K = -273.15 ºC.

The scale used for Kelvin is the same as celsius, (each degree is 1/100th the difference in temperature between freezing and boiling water). So going up 1 degree in kelvin is the same as going up 1 degree in celsius. So, to convert celsius to kelvin, you simply add 273.15. For example, the boiling point of water in kelvin would be 100+273.15 = 373.15K
