Is there a quick way to find the rational zeroes of a polynomial function?

OpenStudy (mertsj):

List the possible rational roots and use synthetic division.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So use synthetic division for ALL of the possible roots? If i had say, 12 possible ones, i have to synthetically divide every single one of them?

OpenStudy (mertsj):

Possibly not. You might find a root and then be able to factor the quotient.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Can you explain that?

OpenStudy (mertsj):

If the remainder of the synthetic division process is 0, then you have found a factor. The other factor is the quotient of the synthetic division process.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ok, i see what you mean. Thanks!
