Since this is adding, you can pretend like the parentheses arent there. Try adding like terms:
\[7y ^{2}+8y ^{2}\]
and
\[-3y + -8y\]
OpenStudy (anonymous):
\[(7y ^-3)+(8y ^-8y)\]
OpenStudy (anonymous):
Honestly, i dont get how you got that. What;s 7y^2+8y^2?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
i have no idea im still new on here a tryin to figer everything out
OpenStudy (anonymous):
i keep getting zero

OpenStudy (anonymous):
15
OpenStudy (anonymous):
Ok, so thats the same as 7y^2+8y^2= 15y^2
OpenStudy (anonymous):
Now try it with -3 + -8
OpenStudy (anonymous):
-11
