1. Select the letter of the best answer. Determine which relation is a function. (Points : 1) {(3, 2), (1, 3), (1, 2), (0, 4), (1, 1)} {(3, 2), (2, 3), (1, 1), (0, 4), (0, 1)} {(3, 3), (2, 3), (1, 1), (0, 4), (0, 1)} {(3, 2), (2, 3), (1, 2), (0, 4), (1, 1)}

Wouldn't it be the 3rd one down?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

why would you think that? and no

OpenStudy (aperez):

It defe. couldn't be the first one nope I'm debating in the 2cd and the last one :D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

function- basically one input one output things that do not work one input 2 output one input 3 output

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yea im thinking the second

OpenStudy (anonymous):

input being the x component and output being the y component

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the 2nd one wouldn't work reason {(3, 2), (2, 3), (1, 1), (0, 4), (0, 1)} look at the last 2 coordinate they both have 0 as an input but different numbers as outputs

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sorry, im not that great at explaining functions think of it this way a function as a machine with only one entrance and one exit if you put a number into the entrance, the machine will convert it into a number using various operations if you put the same number in the machine twice, the result would be the same number, not 2 different numbers

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the reason why the 2nd line isnt a function is because of hte last 2 coordinates if we put in 0, we get 4 the first time so the machine could be like adding 4 to each number that it enters so if we put in 0 again, the result would have to be 4 but the last coordinate doesnt make sense because 4 is not 1 and the machine isnt changing
