Simplify the sum. State any restrictions on the variables. x-2/x+3+10x/x^2-9 Can someone pleasee help??!

OpenStudy (tkhunny):

I'm going to guess what you mean. You ahve NOT written what I am about to write. \(\dfrac{x-2}{x+3} + \dfrac{10x}{x^{2} - 9}\) Give it another go. Remember you Order of Operations and use more parentheses. Factor the denominators. Where are they zero?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so i factor by the denominators?

OpenStudy (tkhunny):

You will need to do that in order to find the Common Denomiator.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so how would i start that?

OpenStudy (tkhunny):

Is x + 3 factored?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

uhh, yea?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well the common factor would be 1?

OpenStudy (tkhunny):

There is no such factor. Given x + 3 in the denominator, there are two terms, "x" and '3'. The only FACTOR is "x+3" Is \(x^{2} - 9\) factored?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ohh, no it's not

OpenStudy (tkhunny):

You will be factoring it, then. Identify the factors carefully.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok
