Determine the domain of the function. f(x) = 5/ (2x-1)(x+4)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[f(x)=\frac{ 5 }{ (2x-1)(x+4) }\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The domain of the function is all the values you can plug in for x. In this case the rule you have to worry about is division by zero. So, find all the numbers that can make the denominator zero

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok so divide both sides by zero?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No, not what i meant. Sorry for the lack of clarity. So you know you cannot divide a number by zero right? So, in this case there are two values that could be the denominator zero and therefore break the rules so to speak. You are looking for those numbers. So, set the denominator equal to zero and solve
