HanAkoSolo (jamierox4ev3r):

is 8x+2y=0 an example of direct variation? If it is, find the constant of variation.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes, 8x+2y=0 2y=-8x y=-4x so what is your answer?

HanAkoSolo (jamierox4ev3r):

so that means that your anwer is -4

HanAkoSolo (jamierox4ev3r):

oh i spelled answer wrong that's embarrassing

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes do you understand how to get there? I left out steps

HanAkoSolo (jamierox4ev3r):

i'm pretty sure, but it would be nice to show all of the steps so I can make sure i truly understand

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thats what I want you to tell me how i got y=-4x?

HanAkoSolo (jamierox4ev3r):

you divide both sides with -8x

HanAkoSolo (jamierox4ev3r):

then, you get 2y=-8x.

HanAkoSolo (jamierox4ev3r):

next, divide both sides by two and you end up getting y=-4x! there, all done :)
