Find the area of the triangle?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (e.cociuba):

the areas 1560 sq/ft because u have to do b*h/2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh okay thanks!

hero (hero):

I calculated something different

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what did you get?

hero (hero):

I calculated it two different ways and got 1845.47

hero (hero):

@mathstudent55, did you want to say something?

OpenStudy (mathstudent55):

1560 is correct. (1/2)bh = 0.5(52 m)(60 m) = 1560 m^2

OpenStudy (mathstudent55):

52 m is the base. the height is 60 m

hero (hero):

I used Heron's formula and another similar formula. Both give the same result

hero (hero):

@mathstudent55, check with Heron's formula. I'm pretty sure you'll get a different result. Additionally, I used this formula to make sure: \[A = \frac{\sqrt{((a+b-c) (a-b+c) (-a+b+c) (a+b+c))}}{4}\]

hero (hero):

I got the same result with both

OpenStudy (anonymous):

alright thank you.

hero (hero):

Hold on @Foreverisabell, double check with another formula

OpenStudy (anonymous):

which one?

hero (hero):

I always double-check with Heron's formula.

hero (hero):

If you get the same result with another formula, then I won't argue

OpenStudy (mathstudent55):

Heron's Formula does give 1845.47555 It could be that this triangle with these dimensions is not possible.

hero (hero):

And that's exactly why I always check with Heron's Formula

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hi ... Hero we meet again
