I've tried working this problem on my own but it seems I am not getting it. I think I have the right idea, though. But, I could be way wrong still. :(

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What is the vertex of the graph of \[y=-4(x+2)^2+5\]

hero (hero):

What do you believe is the correct vertex of the graph?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

A. (2,5) B. (-2,5) C. (5,-2) D. (5,2) I keep getting a negative 60 something for Y. Obviously that is not right. I haven't tried solving for x yet. Should I solve for x first maybe? :(

hero (hero):

You don't need to solve for anything. You just need to know what to look for. The general vertex form of a parabola is: \(a(x - h)^2 + k\) where \((h,k)\) is the vertex. @jerry_5594, incorrect.
