Rods and cones, which are located in our eyes' retinas, are what transform light energy into something our brain can process. They are known as photoreceptors, and they are essentially very specialized neuron cells. Rod-shaped photoreceptors serve certain purposes in the eye, while cone-shaped receptors serve completely different purposes. The purpose of rods Rods, which are slightly larger than cones, help us distinguish between light and dark. They also help us perceive movement and shape. They are very light-sensitive, so we use them to see in dim light. However, they are not color-sensitive. We grow more colorblind the less light there is because our rods are the primarily activated photoreceptors when it's darker. Purpose of Cones Cones, on the other hand, see color, but cannot function well without bright light. They are also good seeing detail. Cones come in three types: one that sees green, ones that sees red and ones that sees blue. Color blind people have one or more types of cones missing or weakened.
