Frederick Douglas’s has successfully captivated the mind of many readers with his famous slave narratives. Starting with The Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass in 1845, he then continued to revise and rewrite his personal account as a slave in two other narratives that were later published. Douglass’s final narrative was Life and Times of Frederick Douglas. Both, first and last narratives appear to pathos in everyway possible but the reactions of the audience differ. Although Douglass’s main purpose is to narrate his life as a slave in all of his narratives, the context of each narrative has been slightly altered to satisfy his goal of informing his audience of what is wrong and most be done to cease it.
