\[\tan \theta = \frac{opp}{adjacent}\]
OpenStudy (anonymous):
tan 75= 125/x
OpenStudy (anonymous):
Can you solve it from here? :o)
OpenStudy (anonymous):
x=33.51

is that right? :)

33.5
Great job!! :o)
OpenStudy (anonymous):
thank you so much!!! can you help me solve for y?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
I can try :o)
OpenStudy (anonymous):
thanks :)

Well we know x is 33.5, so you could use Pythagorean theorem to find y. :o)
OpenStudy (anonymous):
oh okay let me try to figure that out :)
OpenStudy (anonymous):
wait i thought x was the hypotenuse, is it?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
it cant be if its less than 125 though
OpenStudy (anonymous):
Hmmm, good point. :/

so we must be wrong about x :(
OpenStudy (anonymous):
Maybe try to solve for y first instead?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
oh okay, do u know how i would do that?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
cos 75=y/125
OpenStudy (anonymous):
to find the x do it Sin(75)=125/x cross multiply
to find y do it tan(75)=125/y

thanks :) @begzat
OpenStudy (anonymous):
can you solve or not ?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
yes 1 moment
OpenStudy (anonymous):
x=128.9 is that right?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
and y=33.5?

x=129.4
OpenStudy (anonymous):
oh ok my fault i redid it and got that
OpenStudy (anonymous):
y is right
OpenStudy (anonymous):
thank you!! how did you know whether to use tangent or sine?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
Sine=Opposite leg/Hypotenuse
Cos= Adjacent leg/Hypotenuse
Tan=Opposite leg/Adjacent leg
