Name a pair of complementary angles. (1 point) angle sign1 and angle sign4 angle sign1 and angle sign2 angle sign3 and angle sign4 angle sign1 and angle sign6 2. If mangle sign1 = 37°, what is the measure of angle sign4? (1 point) 53° 43° 37° 27° 3. If mangle sign1 = 40°, what is the measure of 5? (1 point) 50° 40° 35° 25°

OpenStudy (jamesj):

what's the definition of complementary angles? That they add up to 90 degrees. Which of these pairs adds up to 90 degrees?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

number 3

OpenStudy (jamesj):

No. Angle 3 looks like a right angle all by itself, doesn't it. So that can't be right.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah my bad so 40 and 50 =90?

OpenStudy (jamesj):

You mean in question number 3? Yes, if angle1 = 40 degrees, then angle5 = 50 degrees

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

are we on question 1?

OpenStudy (jamesj):

I thought you were just answering question number 3 because you gave specific angles. One question #1, which of those pairs add up to 90 degrees? angle sign1 and angle sign4 : no, these angles are the same and unless we are told then are both 45 degrees, then we can't know they add up to 90 degrrees angle sign1 and angle sign2: Looks good to me! angle sign3 and angle sign4: Angle 3 is already 90 degrees angle sign1 and angle sign6: Angle 6 is already 90 degrees

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so the answer for 1 is Angle sign and 2

OpenStudy (jamesj):

Yes. You now tell me what you think the answer is to question 2 and why 2. If mangle sign1 = 37°, what is the measure of angle sign4? (1 point) 53° 43° 37° 27°

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how can i find the answer to this question?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

this is my first time doing this

OpenStudy (jamesj):

|dw:1360345406798:dw| Angles opposite of two intersecting straight lines are equal.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok

OpenStudy (jamesj):

In your diagram, AB and CD are two intersecting straight lines. Now are angles 1 and 4 opposite? Yes. And therefore must they be equal? Yes. Hence if angle1 = 37 degrees then necessarily angle4 = ...... what?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

27?

OpenStudy (jamesj):

Are angles 1 and 4 equal? Yes. So if angle1 = 37, angle4 cannot possible equal 27

OpenStudy (anonymous):

37?

OpenStudy (jamesj):

Yes! 37 = 37

OpenStudy (jamesj):

You figure out question 3 by yourself. You now have all the information you need to do it.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

lol.
