Mathematics 13 Online
OpenStudy (anonymous):

13 - 6f= 31

OpenStudy (ryan123345):

F=-3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok how did you get that

OpenStudy (ryan123345):

c:

OpenStudy (ryan123345):

Ok you want the f to be alone

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no i need the step on how you got f= -3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

13- 6 f = 31 -6f = 31 - 13 f = (31 -13) / -6 f = -3

OpenStudy (ryan123345):

U get rid of the 13 by putting a negative 13 on both sides of the equal sign

OpenStudy (whpalmer4):

\[13-6f = 31\]Add 6f to both sides:\[13-6f+6f=31+6f\]\[13=31+6f\]subtract 31 from both sides:\[13-31=31-31+6f\]\[6f=-18\]Divide both sides by 6\[\frac{6f}{6}=-\frac{18}{6}\]\[f=-3\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok thanks

OpenStudy (ryan123345):

So it becomes -6f=18

OpenStudy (whpalmer4):

You just do the same thing to each side of the equation over and over to isolate the variable you want on one side.

OpenStudy (ryan123345):

Than u divide negative six on both sides

OpenStudy (whpalmer4):

same thing to both sides, that is.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok i got it now. thank you for your help. :)
