In triangle PQR , line PQ = 7.2 and GR = 5.2. Which measure cannot be ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

A. 7 B. 9 C. 11 D. 13

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What equals what? Based on guesses I'd assume that those are the distances of two sides of the triangle PRQ. An important feature of triangles is that two sides must always have a sum that is greater than the third side. So, using this, can you figure out what the range of the third side is?

there i didnt write it right

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You still didn't write it correctly, but the names of the sides really doesn't matter. If PQ = 7.2 and QR = 5.2 then PR (the remaining side) has to be less than the other two sides combined. PQ + QR > PR Only one of the four choices satisfies this requirement.

so is it D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Why wouldn't it be A, B, or C?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

to say the truth i dont know bt i understand that the awnser has to be less

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well, what is PQ + PR?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and thx for the example

OpenStudy (anonymous):

its 13.4
