how do you figure out a function rule to represent total calories burned by an individual over time?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well, you have to know the unit of time and the rate at which it burns. So let t = the unit of time (min, hrs, secs) And then have whatever number for number of calories burned in that amount of time. We'll call it 'a' So the Formula is: Total Calories burned = B = a*t And a can be how many you burn in whatever unit of time, so if you have 15cal/min Equation is B = 15t, where t is in minutes, and so on and so forth.
