can someone please explain? Show that the point (7/25, 24/25) is on the unit circle

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

x = 7/25 y =24/25 ---->x^2 + y^2 = 49/625 +526/625 =1 . x^2 +y^2 =1 means it's is in the unit circle

OpenStudy (mathstudent55):

The equation of the unit circle is x^2 + y^2 = 1 Substitute 7/25 in for x and 24/25 in for y, and see if it makes the equation true.

thank you all so much, really helped!!

wlcm

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so its not on the unit circle correct?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

cause that would be .08 + 1

@mathstudent55

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sorry i just redid it and got 1, so it would be on the unit circle i think

OpenStudy (mathstudent55):

Yes, it is. you are correct now.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks

OpenStudy (mathstudent55):

(7/25)^2 + (24/25)^2 = 49/625 + 576/625 = 625/625 = 1
