With double the genetic material to work with, the organism would be able to produce more mRNA and thereby produce more protein in a given time. This would be limited by other mechanisms of the cell. i.e. the number of ribosomes and the availablity of aa-tRNA http://nz.answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20080205222421AARZMuR
