What are Homologous features?

OpenStudy (nincompoop):

what did you read so far?

OpenStudy (deadshot):

So far, I've read that homologous means two of the same, but I'm not sure if homologous features are those on the same chromosome.

OpenStudy (nincompoop):

how much do you know on mitosis and meiosis? chromosomes in diploid cells exist in pairs, called homologous chromosomes. members of a pair are identical in size and location of the centromere, a structure to which spindle fibers attach during cell division

OpenStudy (deadshot):

so, homologous features don't exist on the same chromosome, then do they resemble each other in organisms whose common ancestry is not recent?

OpenStudy (nincompoop):

they do exist molecularly and anatomically - in structure and functions among animals, which denotes common ancestry.

OpenStudy (deadshot):

Oh, I get it now! Thanks! Now I can finish my project!

OpenStudy (nincompoop):

no problem
