Find the indefinite integral of (5x+7)dx Thanks! Answer is (5/2)x^(2) +7x +C I just don't know how to get it

OpenStudy (sanchez9457):

Do you know how to integrate or are you just having problems with this specific problem?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

If I took the integration of 5x+7 it would be 5x^2 /2 But how does the 7x get in there?

OpenStudy (sanchez9457):

when you integrate any number, a consant, you get that number times x.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I guess dx of 7x is 7 so anti is 7x

OpenStudy (sanchez9457):

or that number times whatever the variable you are integrating with repspect too

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I just didnt see the process thanks so much for your help if you didnt say anything I would have just been sitting here stewing even though I knew the answer

OpenStudy (sanchez9457):

yes exactly! the derivative of 7x is 7! and the anti of 7 is 7x! Exactly!

OpenStudy (sanchez9457):

No problem
