what is the potential of a conservative force?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is there anything else that goes with this question?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah they give you the force and tell you to see if it is conservative. Then if it is conservative youre supposed to show the potential U(r) is somehow derived from the force

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I have \[U(r)=-\int\limits_{r}^{r'}F(r')dr'\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well if a force is conservative it means that the path from a to b doesn't matter. Like:|dw:1360777788027:dw| All of these paths will still result in the same potential difference.
