How many rational roots does x4 + 3x2 + 2 = 0 have? 0 1 2 4 Caught between 0 and 2 but not sure...
Can you factor the expression?
ummmm no, I dont know how to...
Are you allowed to use a graphing calculator, and if so do you have one?
no just a regular calculator
Have you factored quadratics such as x^2 -7x+12
its (x-3)(x-4)
Yes, good. Can you factor x^2+3x+2?
x(x+5)
Oops. If you expand your answer it gives x^2+5x. It should be (x+2)(x+1), and your original question would factor to (x^2+2)(x^2+1). Can you find any values of x that would make that product = 0? I have to run - at least for a while.
ok is it 2
wait none of them equal to 0
well thanks for your time I'm going to go know but whenever you have the chance to answer, I would appreciate it, bye :)
You say the answer is 2. Give me a value of x that makes x^2 + 1 = 0
