Can someone please tell me everything I need to know for mandatos de tu y usted? Thanks! xoxoxo<3

OpenStudy (tracyy):

=== TÚ COMMANDS (aka informal commands) === Affirmative: Do something - Conjugation: Conjugate verb into present indicative form of "él/ella/usted" - Example: "Eat the food." => "Come la comida." (See how it's not "comes"?) "Buy the shirt." => "Compra la camiseta." Negative: Don't do something - Conjugation: Conjugate verb into subjunctive form (aka opposite ending, but still in "tú" form) - Example: "DON'T eat the food." => "No comas la comida." "Don't buy the shirt." => "No compras la camiseta."

OpenStudy (tracyy):

For the informal commands, remember the irregulars: (I have included some examples.) decir - di (Say the word. => Di la palabra.) salir - sal (Leave the room. => Sal el dormitorio.) hacer - haz (Do the homework. => Haz la tarea.) ser - sé (Be nice. => Sé simpático.) ir - ve (Go to the class. => Ve a la clase.) tener - ten (Have a book. => Ten un libro.) poner - pon (Put (make) the table. => Pon la mesa.) venir - ven (Come to the party. => Ven a la fiesta.)

OpenStudy (tracyy):

=== USTED COMMANDS (aka formal commands) === Affirmative: - Conjugation: Conjugate verb into present but drop ending and add opposite (For -ar, use -e ending. For -ir/-er use -a ending) - Example: "Eat the food. (formal)" => "Coma usted la comida." (See the pattern?) "Buy the shirt." => "Compre usted la camiseta." Negative: - Conjugation: Same as affirmative. Just add a 'no' in front. - Example: "Don't eat the food." => "No coma usted la comida." "Don't buy the shirt." => "No compre usted la camiseta." * * * Remember that with all of these, start by using the "yo" present form. Drop the -o, and add the opposite ending. * * * Remember the irregular present "yo" form verbs. (i.e. Yo tengo. The form will carry over to the command. "Have a cake." => "Tenga usted un pastel." Irregular formal commands: (And some examples.) dar - dé Ud. (Give the gift. => Dé usted el regalo.) estar - esté Ud. (Be excited. => Esté usted emocionado.) ir - vaya Ud. (Go to the library. => Vaya usted a la biblioteca.) ser - sea Ud. (Be nice. => Sea simpático.) saber - sepa Ud. (Know the word. => Sepa la palabra.) (See a difference between the informals?) Hope that it helps!! (It's long but very informative. :P)
