Hi again, I am going to try this again as I still don't have the solution to a payroll question. I need to find the "regular" pay rate and I have the gross pay as 259.87. They worked 25 hours total, and 3 overtime. Again, I need the regular pay rate. The answer should be 9.81, but for the life of me, I can't find how they got that answer. Thanks in advance for any help;) Denise

Directrix (directrix):

What does your book give as the definition of "regular pay rate?" That may be what's holding back the solution. For me, it is, anyway.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ok, let me look.

Directrix (directrix):

Are we given the hourly wage for 1 regular hour? Are we given the hourly wage for 1 overtime hour?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I don't see anything on that? Wouldn't it be the hours that are not ot? They worked 3 days, 10 hours one, 6 hours next and 9 hours last day.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No, that's what's killing me??

Directrix (directrix):

I just read a blurb on calculating these wages. Let me think.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sec, I'll post the problem from my homework page.

Directrix (directrix):

Is there a standard percentage or way to calculate overtime rates from regular rates? I don't know the law on this.

Directrix (directrix):

Time and a half for overtime. That helps.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

1.5 or 1 and a half time? Is that what you need?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Time and a half.

Directrix (directrix):

S worked 22 regular hours and 3 Overtime hours. Let's write an equation. c|dw:1360888572591:dw|
