what does the 1,6 stand for in fructose 1,6-bisphosphate.

What class is this for? I am assuming it's for HS? But I'm thinking maybe 1st year freshman college biology?

But basically, it's referring to the position of the phosphate group(s) on fructose. Since there are 6 carbons for fructose, often it's important to see what the position of certain groups are. The 1,6 in essence means that there's a phosphate group on carbon 1 and a phosphate group on carbon 6.

You don't really need to know unless you're a biology or chemistry major. You'll learn the rules for naming organic and bioorganic molecules in organic chemistry :)
