PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE HELP Brandon uses the following steps to construct a perpendicular line through a point C on a line segment. He first draws two arcs from point C intersecting the line segment in points A and B. The next four steps are listed below. Step 1: Using the same compass width draw two more arcs from point C, one above and the other below the line. Step 2: Without changing the compass width draw two arcs from point B above and below the line segment. Step 3: Label the point of intersection of the arcs above the line segment as M and below the line as N.

Step 4: Using a straightedge, join point M and point N. Part A: Which is the first incorrect step? Part B: Using complete sentences, explain your answer for Part A. Part C: Explain why a compass works for the construction done by Brandon.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the step used to take A is omit the rhombus CMBN has 2diagonals CB and MN orthogonal together because CM=CN=BM=BN. the compass works for that because when we don't change its with, it makes the same arc and the same length

OpenStudy (anonymous):

that fact help you draw the rhombus, square or divide the segment line and so on which have to be the same length

@Hoa thank you :) i still dont really understand though.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

take out the compass, and follow the steps, you will understand

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@hoa which one was incorrect...i put down that step two was incorrect

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Since the question doesn't indicate about the half wrong, you cannot say which one is wrong, the step 2 100%right, just omit when taking A from step one. .I hope you draw out the picture. I did it before sending you the answer, I didn't guess. So you should do the same.
