OpenStudy (aperez):

What is Indirect proof? and do you always assume inverse to proof it's true?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Indirect is when you assume that your conclusion is false, and try to look for a contradiction :) An example is proving that for any positive integer n, if n² is odd, then n is also odd. :)

OpenStudy (aperez):

Thanks, do you also know if postulates are accepted to be true without proof?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes, they are. We have to live assuming SOME truths or else we'll forever live in uncertainty o.O That sounds weird :D Postulates (Axioms) are accepted without question. Theorems are conclusions drawn given the truth of the Postulates (Axioms).

OpenStudy (aperez):

lol, thanks a lot ;)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Anytime :)
