Help. Find the slant asymptote of the function f(x)=36 x^2 - 12 x - 51 / 6 x+ 6 I have been having the hardest time understanding asymptotes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Long division. Find the quotient of \[\frac{36x^2-12x-51}{6x+6}\] Drop the remainder term and you're left with the slant asymptote.

so i i would just do long division and instead of including the remainder in my answer I would just leave it out?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes, the polynomial part you're left with is the same as the line that forms the slant asymptote.

thank you
