Trigonometry 9 Online
OpenStudy (anonymous):

Describe how the graph of the function y=1.5sin(4x) is related to the graph of y=sin(x).

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Then graph the periods of y=1.5sin(4x).

OpenStudy (harsimran_hs4):

direct conclusions can be drawn 1: that the shape remains sinusoidal 2: the period changes from 2*pi to 2*pi/4 (figure out why?) 3: the maximum and minimum values become 1.5 and -1.5 (figure out why?)

OpenStudy (zpupster):

Standard form of equation for sin function: Asin(Bx-C), A=amplitude, Period=2π/B, Phase shift=C/B

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@harsimran_hs4 1. Because "sin" stays right? Although I know what sinusoidal means, can you explain more please. 2. Because B = 4, 2pi/B=2pi/4. 3. I don't understand how you came up with this.

OpenStudy (harsimran_hs4):

@af0998 sinusoidal means that has the shape similar to sin x curve consider sin(ax + b) whatever be the values of a and b ultimately it will lie b/w -1 and 1 -1 < sin(ax+b) < 1 -1* 1.5 < 1.5* sin(ax+b) < 1.5* 1 (multiplying by 1.5)
