factor completely

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[6x ^{2}-19x+10\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[6x ^{2}-19x+10\implies(2 x-5) (3 x-2)\]

method

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks kit, but can you show me the steps?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Explaining factoring is hard, but I'll try my best(:

OpenStudy (anonymous):

use the quadratic formula to find the x values that are solutions. take (x-solution1)(x-solution2)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I meant (2x-5)(3x-2)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

not explaining , just the steps.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Find factors of 60 which add up to 19 15 and 4 6x^2+15x+4x+10 3x(2x+5)+2(2x+5) (3x+2) (2x+5)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So acctually my first answer was wrong because they're suppost to be added not subtracted. But to double check i'd make sure that when you factor it out that you get the same equation that you started with.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no, it's right!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh okay, then I must have messed up somewhere with my steps.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the sign, because it's -19

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks

You're welcome(:
