What are the parameters that influence gases in solution? And how can you explain how these parameters affect the amount of gas that goes into solution?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@abb0t ? do u get this?

OpenStudy (abb0t):

Thinking in terms of a simple thermodynamic system ideal gas where PV=nRT Since temp of a system is directly related to speed of molecules in random motion. I think that's all you need to know if this is for HS level chem.

OpenStudy (abb0t):

But it does get more complex for real gases because intermolecular interactions are taken into accnt

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i don't quite understand... :/ so what are the parameters that influence the gases in solution? :/ (and this is hs chem)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is that equation the parameter?

OpenStudy (abb0t):

There's another equation but I forget...you might find it in ur book, P1V1=P2V2??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so how does it look? the equation? is there anything squared? or is it just this? |dw:1361223523946:dw|

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@abb0t ? :)

OpenStudy (abb0t):

Well, like I said before it shows that the temperature is directly proportional to the motion of molecules in gas. If you increase the temp, that means you get higher activity. Which means that temperature is one parameter. Then you have pressure, if the molecules are compressed in a pressure chamber or a pistol, the molecules have less motion. Less room to collide. Do you get where I'm going with this?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and sorry if my responses happen to be late... my internet is EXTREMELY slow right now :(

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh lol wow that actually went thru! my last comment :P i didn't think it went thru cuz my internet completely crashed :( so yeah... :/ idk so are there other parameters? Or is it just temperature and pressure?

OpenStudy (abb0t):

Environment does play a role also, of course. Different environments have different temperatures, different humidity. For instance, our body environment is different from the environment outside of the body. The pH inside our body is about 7.5? Slightly basic, but over a 24 hour period, the pH changes and different reactions happen according to our body's pH. If this is your research project, I think you should BING search this. I am only giving you a general scope and I am being somewhat vague for a resasons. Research requires a more detailed answer obviously and requires time. That's the main difference from high school and college. You need to learn to be independent. So I highly suggest that you spend some time doing some research on your own. I don't want to just give you all the answers.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh and @abb0t do u think u could possibly help me with this math problem?? its a choose all that apply thing and i think i have one of the answers, but I'm not 100% sure on the others... like i think that they aren't answers to the problem, but I'm not that sure... if u have the time of course :) http://openstudy.com/study#/updates/5123e92ce4b02ca4087b0553 thanks!:)

OpenStudy (abb0t):

temperarute, pressure, environment (pH, acidity and basicity levels), concentration (of reactant or products)....

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh okay... thank you so much!!! THAT helped a lot :) ima go research some more on this stuff!:) thanks @abb0t :) that was SUPER helpful!
