The phrase, “heard blues in the snap of cotton breaking,” contains an example of alliteration stanzas rhyme onomatopoeia
@tafkas77 @begzat
its not rhyme thats for sure
Hi there! I know you! You are completely right. Do you see any others that can be eliminated or are you stuck now?
kinda stuck um maybe alliteration i dont think thats right
Well, alliteration would be wrong. Alliteration is when a writer uses the same letter to begin many words in his or her sentence(s): Bill the boy bought a banana and burrowed it into his brown bag. I'm not seeing that in this question. I also don't see any stanzas, do you know what those are?
ya i have a pretty good idea what those are and ya i know theres no alliterations cause um u said do u see any others that can be elimated i said i dunno kinda stuck i guess alliteration so i think its onomatopoeia
Yes! It's onomatopoeia. :) Stanzas are basically the "paragraphs" of a poem. They separate the poem into parts, like this one by Dylan Thomas: "Do not go gentle into that good night, Old age should burn and rave at close of day; Rage, rage against the dying of the light. (STANZA 1) Though wise men at their end know dark is right, Because their words had forked no lightning they Do not go gentle into that good night. (STANZA 2)"
thx so much hey while your here if you dont mind could you help me with this little poem thing i have a good idea what it can be but im stuck between 2 answers
Sure! I don't mind! :)
and our tongues keep remembering the rhythm of the words we forgot swaying on the backs of buses and in hot kitchens crooning in pool halls and shared bathrooms yeah/we carving a heartspace and staring down the darkness some call our future How does visualizing the images in these lines help you understand the conditions of the lives of the people Jacobs is describing? They are all bustling and hot places. They are all crowded and uncomfortable places. They are all dark and mysterious places. They are all dirty and energetic places. im positive its not d or c its either a or b i think a
what do you think?
You are very good at narrowing down your answer choices! :D OKay, let's look at "A." Well, those areas certainly seem bustling, but the only area that is described as "hot" is te kitchen. Personally, I believe choice A is meant to throw you off, but let's look at choice B. "in pool halls and shared bathrooms yeah/we carving a heartspace" This makes choice B seem like a good choice! The empasis on "shared bathrooms" agrees with the crowded feeling in choice B, and those areas described in the poem seem pretty uncomfortable to me! What do you think, A or B?
ya i agree with you b and yah i look at questions and go what looks really dumb
Me, too. :D Well, I have to sign off for now, did I help you out today? :)
ya lots thanks so much!
You're welcome! Anytime (well, except for now; I have to go lol). :D Have a great day!
