Given a= -3 and b= 4 and c= -5, evaluate |c-a-b|

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Hi there! Do you know how to work this problem at all or are you completely lost?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

completely lost..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

That's okay! I can help you.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

plug in the numbers first (-5)-(-3)-(4) which is the same thing as -5+3-4 and that equals -6 now because its asking for the absolute value, you just ignore the negative sign and the answer is 6 :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Absolute value signs | | mean that whatever equation is inside will become positive. For example, 1 - 4 = -3, but |1 - 4| = POSITIVE 3. Do you get that? @adrianuuh we are not allowed to give the answers. Doing so can result in your OS account being suspended. We are supposed to guide the user, not give them the answer.
