write an equation in slope-intercept form of the line whose y-intercept is -3 and the line is perpendicular to the line whose equation is 3x-2y=9. What is the slope intercept? i need step by step help please

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So, you know what slope-intercept form looks like, correct?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

can i show you what i did so far?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Of course. That would be most helpful.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

-2y=-3x-9 and i divided them all by negative 2 so now it looks like this -2y/-2=-3/-2x-9/-2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is this correct so far?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I think you just made a typo, as the x goes wtih the -3, not on the -2.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

But yes, so far so good.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and for the slope-intercept form i should get y=-2/3x-3 correct cause i just bring in the y-intercept as stated in the problem.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

That's correct! Let's clean it up so it doesn't look like you are dividing the -2 by 3x. Make it y=-2x/3 -3 instead.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay lol sorry about that.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and thank you for your help.

You are welcome.
