A turtles heart beats even after its stripped out from the body http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lmhBEeEMqYo ok I am not much into bio.. but i always thought, for any organ to function.. the brain gave commands.. except for reflex actions.. surely our heart beat is controlled by the brain (i think :P).. so any one explain that?
and no answered this? seriously? The heart can continue to beat outside the body, if it's placed in a lactated ringer's solution. The cells though (pacemakers cells) CAN generate electrical impulses without any outside stimulation.ever heard of Sinoatrial node? A.K.A SAN, this is basically where the sinus rhythm of the beatig heart comes from
The SAN is actually supplied by other nerves like Parasympathetic Nerves A.K.A Vagus (nerve that connects you Atrioventricular node AVN and SAN to your brain). These nerves control your heart rate, among other things. However the heart will still beat without these inputs. When a person gets a heart transplant, his nerves are cut away from his heart, and his old heart is removed. When his new heart is placed in his chest, the severed nerves can not be reconnected. Nerves take an extremely long amount of time to regenerate. So this man will have no nerve connections to his heart. This man's heart rate will be determined by the sinus node. what else did you think mister genius? ;) This is as good as saying that's beating without a body as long as it's having supplies of Ions that's why I said lactated ringer's solution because the heart must be supplied with ions (sodium, calcium, and potassium) to generate electrical activity. Ringer's lactate contains sodium, calcium, and potassium.
u aaa theee besttt :P..
