A market research survey found that students spend a typical twenty-four day doing the following things: A) find the percent of the time that is spent doing each activity i'm going to put the chart up- help please

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Facebook-4 playing sports-2 doing school work-2 sleeping-9 eating-4 other-3

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

first find the total by adding up all of the numbers

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

once you have the total, you divide each number by the total, then you multiply that by 100 to get the percentage

OpenStudy (anonymous):

24 in total

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

ok so the percentage for facebook would be 4/24 = 0.16667 then multiply this by 100 to get 16.667%

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ohh okay thanks do i do that for all of them?

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

yes, repeat for all of the numbers given

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay thank you i have another question by using this chart

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

alright what is it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

using your calculations above organize the information in a circle graph. use appropriate labels. indicate the number of degrees in the central angles for each section of the graph.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you can use excel or find a chart service on google :)

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

for facebook, the percentage is 16.667%, which is 0.16667 back in decimal form you multiply 0.16667 by 360 to get 0.16667*360 = 60.0012 so it's basically 60 degrees so the "facebook" pie wedge piece is a pie wedge with a central angle of 60 degrees

column1 colum2 Facebook-4 playing sports-2 doing school work-2 sleeping-9 eating-4 other-3 Fill it in with info above, highlight both columns and go to the graphs thingy and choose pie graph

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay thanks jim_thompson5910 and timo86m for your help :)

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

you're welcome
