The absolute value of any number is always positive.
the property of length | | does not rely on direction + - a 5 foot rule is the same length if it is measured from left to right, as it is if it is measured from right to left.
Think of the number line where you have positive numbers to the right and negative numbers to the left. If you have a negative number, then that negative number with the absolute value sign around it can be thought of as the "distance" from zero. Distances are positive.
I still dont understand it still looks like -3+.2 = -5 where do you get the 2.8 from sorry i just dont understand
its -3 + 0.2 = 2.8
-3 is -3.0 When you perform arithmetic on decimal numbers, you have to line up the decimal points.
