Two questions, and the first might serve to explain the other to some degree. 1. This may not be something you can answer, so I would appreciate it if you could ask someone who might. How is what I think of as "academic" English related to AP English? The AP people act as if they are the only ones around and that anyone who uses another standard is stupid and ignorant. 2. "The word justice is often misunderstood and therefore misused." Why are there no commas surrounding "therefore?"
idk about the first one but for the second q theres no commas around the therefore because theres no pause or break in the sentence when you read it, do u c?
When we speak, there is often a break. Things change. I think they're trying to get rid of commas. The thing is, to me, a comma (and other punctuation) is critical to those of us who read aloud without having ever seen the material. A comma lets you know there is a pause. Pauses are important because people can only listen so fast. It's just my observation. However, I guess things have changed. Thank you. I really appreciate your input.
