The members of the Congress of Racial Equality (CORE) believed

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@jim_thompson5910

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

hmm this question seems a bit vague

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

and fair warning, I'm not as good with history as I am with math

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Hahaha i'm stuck on this

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

is that all it says?

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

seems vague and open-ended

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

but I think this group was for non-violent protests for civil rights (I think that's correct)

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

basically I think they believed that to change things, you don't need to be violent

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@jim_thompson5910

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@rebeccaskell94

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

does that sound familiar?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes it dose. can you help me with 3 more haha

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

sure i can try

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Which was the earliest event shown on the map?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@jim_thompson5910

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

looks like the event in 1955

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

do you see which event I'm referring to?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I cant even see the map lol

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

really? are the words too small to read?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I think it's D .

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

you are correct

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

that's the event in 1955

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Analyze Cause and Effect What was the effect of the civil rights decisions of the Supreme Court under Chief Justice Earl Warren? Who was affected by these decisions?

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

according to this page http://www.michaelariens.com/ConLaw/justices/warren.htm

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

the supreme court was more liberal and helped the civil rights cause more than ever before

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Is that the answer ?

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

ex: brown vs board of education

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

that case basically overturned the case of plessy vs ferguson (back in the 1890s)

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

and ruled that "separate but equal" was unconstitutional

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

and segregation was unconstitutional

OpenStudy (anonymous):

That's it ? If so thank you very much lol

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

so you can see that this court was more liberal than previous courts

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

otherwise, I don't think brown vs board of education would have gone the way it did (if it wasn't as liberal as it was)

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

yeah pretty much

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thank you. I have one more.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Synthesize Information According to Thurgood Marshall, why was affirmative action necessary?

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

well he saw it as a tool to help bridge the serious gap between the majority and minorities who were missing out on things like getting a good education, getting good jobs, etc

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

he saw that if affirmative action wasn't in place, then the status quo would be held and minorities would barely get a chance to get a good education, job, etc that the majority can get

OpenStudy (anonymous):

That's it ? Thank you

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

yeah i think so

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What happened in hundreds of cities immediately after the assassination of Martin Luther King, Jr.?

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

so hurray for PBS lol

OpenStudy (anonymous):

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

there were tons of riots I think

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

yeah definitely C...people were very pissed off after his death

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes hurray for PBS and i think it's c but im not sure

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

I don't blame them, I would be too

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yay i was right lol

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Hahaha

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

lol congrats

OpenStudy (anonymous):

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):
