Which point lies in the solution set for the following system of inequalities? y > x + 4 y > -x + 2 (1, 6) (-2, -1) (-3, 2) (1, 1)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

plug those points in and find out whether it fits for yourself

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well if i could i would. i obviously dont know how.

OpenStudy (zehanz):

Just set x=1 and see if y fits the inequalities: E.g.: (1,6): 6 > 1 + 4 TRUE 6 > -1 + 2 TRUE Seems like we found it already ;)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

(a,b) means x=a, y=b for example (1,6), x=1, y=6 is 6>1+4 and 6>-1+2 both right at the same time? then it is in the solution set

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so its 1,6 ? can u explain a lil more ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well it is true for (1,6) i don't understand what you don't understand

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah it is (1,6)

OpenStudy (zehanz):

If I read the question, there is only one point of which the coordinates (x and y) make both inequalities true. I picked the first point, and it made them both true, so I think we are done. Could just as well have been one of the others, though...
