how do factorals work?

In an introductory treatment of factorials, a positive integer is represented with an exclamation point after it. Factorials are not limited to integers, but unless you are considering advanced concepts of factorials, you will not have to concern yourself with non-integer factorial for quite a while. So, stick to positive integers for now. For any positive integer, it would be that integer times the next smaller integer times the next smaller integer from that and so on until you get to one: n! = (n)(n - 1)(n - 2)(n - 3) . . . (3)(2)(1) so, 5! = 5 x 4 x 3 x 2 x 1

Is this in regard to some formula for something or in regard to some geometric figure? Are you sure you don't mean: A = BxH/2 ? Because that is the formula for the area of a triangle.

The only difference is in the "^" and the "/"
