Help with probability Question...plz. :( A game involves rolling two dice. Player A gets a point if the sum is 7 or greater. Player B gets a point if the sum is less than 7. What is the number of possible outcomes? a) 12 b) 18 c) 24 d) 36

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Are the outcomes for one person or are they combined outcomes?

OpenStudy (helpsos):

pretty sure there combined

OpenStudy (unklerhaukus):

how many rolls are made ?

OpenStudy (helpsos):

there are two dice that are rolled once each

OpenStudy (unklerhaukus):

i can only see two outcomes, either player A get the point or player B get the point

OpenStudy (helpsos):

Yeah i agree but I think what It might be saying is how many outcomes are there combined of both player A and B

OpenStudy (helpsos):

oh wait i think i might have the answer could someone check it though? I think its 12

OpenStudy (unklerhaukus):

how?

OpenStudy (helpsos):

No its wrong...12 doesn't even make sense :( any ways I think this Question is just messed up

OpenStudy (unklerhaukus):

maybe they just mean the numer of possible dice rolls

OpenStudy (helpsos):

yeah may be, I could check and see if that's one of the options

OpenStudy (unklerhaukus):

OpenStudy (helpsos):

wow, thankyou, so i just count the number of squares? omg 36!!!! that's the answer thankyou soooooo much :D

OpenStudy (unklerhaukus):

is that right?

OpenStudy (unklerhaukus):

if so, i dont understand the wording of the question they could have simply asked A game involves rolling two dice. What is the number of possible outcomes?

OpenStudy (helpsos):

I think so because my friends said so but i didn't want to just copy their answer becuase i didnt understand why the answer was 36.... but now i do :)

OpenStudy (helpsos):

i mean it makes so mush sense now becuase of the table

OpenStudy (unklerhaukus):

i would have thought that the if you roll a 6 on the first die and a 4 on the second die , the outcome would be the same , as if you rolled a 4 on the first and a 6 on the second , , hmmm

OpenStudy (helpsos):

I thought the same but my teahcer explained those are two different outcomes. she said 4, 6 is different that 6, 4

OpenStudy (helpsos):

AlsoI ask you a really quick question?

OpenStudy (helpsos):

*Could i ask you a really quick question?

OpenStudy (unklerhaukus):

ok

OpenStudy (helpsos):

Um sorry if this is not quick but could you check if i got the right answer: A game involves spinning a spinner twice. Player A gets a point if the same color is spun twice. How many outcomes would allow player A to get a point? I got 3 |dw:1362019967169:dw|
