MEDAL GIVEN TO FIRST PERSON TO ANSWER! During te exploration of the new world, who were the "South explorers" and who were the "North explorers"?

Luuvergirl321 is actually wrong. in the exploration of the new world. The English dominated exploration of the North which is why you have cities that sound like English names such as New York, Yorktown, etc... In the south, the Spanish dominated the exploration, this can be shown in all the spanish speaking countries in the carribean and Florida being named for what it is. When Juan Ponce de Leon came to Florida looking for the fountain of youth he noticed the abundent flowers and called it Pascua Florida, eventually we dropped the Pascua and just call it Florida with a different way to pronounce it now.

Even more to the north than just the U.S. was dominated by the French. This is shown by places like Quebec and areas around there speaking French as a primary language. But for your purposes I would reccomend using British and Spanish if your studying American History.

I already found the answer but thanks! The answer i was looking for was France and Spain. France is considered northern Europe and Spain South.
