Which of the following would be the best first step to solve the system of equations? 2x – 9y = 6 4x – 3y = –7 A. Multiply the first equation by 2. B. Multiply the second equation by 2. C. Multiply the first equation by –3. D. Multiply the second equation by –3.

A :D

I'm stuck on this one too, if you can help. :D What is the first step in solving this system of equations by elimination? 5a + 3b = –9 2a – 5b = –16 A. Subtract the two equations. B. Add the two equations. C. Solve for a. D. Multiply the first equation by 2 and the second by –5.

because you can eliminate x when you multiplied the 1st eqn with 2 then easily count y later :) for 2nd one is D because subtract and addition cannot be used in problem involving simultenous eqn :)
