Simplify.Remove grouping symbols and combine like terms. B) -3(x+3y)+2(2x+y)

First, I would take the coefficients -3 and 2 and apply them to each term (x+3y) and (2x+y), respectively This gives -3x-9y+4x+2y Combining like terms will give: x-7y This is because you are taking the coefficients from x and summing them and doing the same for the y coefficients. Treat each variable(x, y, xz, x^{2}, etc...) as their own "group" and add compute their coeffcients, then reapply the variable to them.
