what is the meaning of vectors and scalar???

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Vector quantities always include a magnitude with direction In contrast, Scalar quantities only denote a value. Think of it like this: Vector: I am driving 60 Mph in a NW direction Scalar: I am driving at a speed of 60 Mph. Vector: I have walked 20 meters to the SW Scalar: I have walked 20 meters from where I started.

vector is showing direction and magnitude...scalar just shows magnitude...

Scalars are typically the magnitude, however such quantities can be a coefficient for another term as well. Example: 2x+6y=2(x+3y), where the 2 is a portion of the magnitude(scalar quantity) of this equation

simple examples of vectors are: velocity, acceleration, force scalars: pressure, temperature, speed, energy
